Lluís Juncà, Director of the Vice-President Office of Catalonia Government, and Albert Castellanos, General Director of Economic Promotion, Competition and Regulation, visited the new Silence production plant, in order to get to know the company first hand.
The meeting was led by Carlos Sotelo, CEO of Silence, who explained the company’s history, the production process of vehicles and battery packs, and plans for the future. To end the visit, they were in the ‘showroom’ of Silence staging the use of electric scooters in a “Smart City”.
“Catalonia is in a position to aspire to lead the electric motorcycle market worldwide. Silence is a good proof of this”, says the general director of Economic Promotion of the Generalitat, Albert Castellanos.
A milestone for the Catalan motorcycle industry
The new Silence factory is the first installation in Spain and Europe that exclusively produces electric scooters and battery packs that use these vehicles. The BMS (Battery Management System) and all the electronics have been developed by its own team of engineers, which offers the guarantee of maximum quality, being the most important know-how of the company.
The national electric motorcycle industry is at the European forefront and the company is approaching its goal: to provide solutions for more sustainable mobility. In 2016, Silence was a leader in sales in Spain, with 40% of the market share. The creation of these facilities will allow the company to double the billing in 2017 and will make possible its international expansion.
Currently, Scutum Co. develops three models of vehicles. On the one hand, the model Silence S01 with removable battery Fast & Easy, for early adopters particular that bet by the mobility ‘zero emissions’. On the other hand, the Silence S03 three-wheeled model, mainly intended for distribution, but also will be available for those individuals looking for greater stability. The Silence S02 model available in delivery, police and for mobility agents. And the S02i model for individuals.
